That Makes Me Feel Much Better

**Previous entry with Nat and Adam can be found here.

After tubing for another half an hour, we return the boys' inner tube and head back to Adam's truck.

Moving around outside had kept me warm but now inside Adam's truck, with my sweat beginning to dry, I start to feel the cold.

Shivering, I take off my gloves and rub my hands together.

Turning on the heat, Adam takes off his own gloves and reaches for my hands. Rubbing my hands in his, Adam smiles and states, "Survival 101. This will help to warm up both our hands."

Lifting an eyebrow, I said, "I don't think cold hands equates to trying to survive." Even though secretly I don't mind the feel of Adam's large, rough hands on mine.

Shrugging, Adam says, "Okay, you caught me. I just wanted to hold your hands."

Rolling my eyes, I question, "Are you ever serious?"

Glancing up from our hands, with a smirk, he answers, "With you, snow bunny, always."

"I'm sure," I state.

Letting go of my hands, Adam puts the car in drive and heads out of the parking lot.

He announces, "There is one last place I want to show you."

With my hands now thawed, I move to my arms, rubbing them to warm up further. I ask, "Are you going to tell me where we're going?"

Tsking under his breathe, he replies, "The same as the other two times - it's a surprise. And here I thought you were a quick learner."

I say,"You are so hilarious. Maybe you should take that act on the road. Do stand up."

Laughing, Adam says, "Oh, look who's funny now."

Smiling, I state, "I'm hilarious."

He continues to laugh while pulling up in front of one the largest churches I have ever seen. It's an older grey two story building with six large doors out front. The sign out front reads "St. Micheal's Catholic Church."

Stepping out of the car, I glance up at the spires on the building. It is a beautiful building.

Coming to stand beside me, Adam says, "Let's go inside."

Turning my head to look at him, I say, "Um, Adam. This is a little creepy. Why exactly are we here?" Of all the places I imagined him taking me, this wasn't even on my radar.

Chuckling, he states, "Aw, come on, Nat. My dad is the District Attorney, remember?"

I retort, "Oh well, that makes me feel much better."

Throwing an arm around me, Adam leads me to the front doors. "I promise I have honorable intentions. Plus, I'm Prince Charming. And it's well known Prince Charming is a gentleman."

Opening the door, we enter into a large open foyer. It's beautiful with four wine colored camel back sofas lining the hall, atop of dark wood flooring.

Adam continues onward, making a right and beckoning me to follow. We head to the end of the hallway and make our way down a set of stairs. Passing by several closed doors, Adam pauses at door with a simple door plaque reading, "Bishop Donovan". Knocking briefly, Adam waits before hearing a muffled response, then opens the door.

Opening the door, I find myself looking into a simple office adorned with bookshelves and a middle aged man sitting behind a large wood desk, staring back at me. He has salt and pepper hair with dark wire rimmed glasses. He smiles warmly when he sees us.

"Adam. It is good to see you." the man asserts.

Walking over to clasp his hands, Adam says, "Good seeing you, Father Donovan."

Bishop Donovan says, "We haven't seen you in a while. I trust you are staying out of trouble, or as much as you possibly can." He smiles warmly as he says this with a twinkle in his eye.

A chuckle escapes me before I can clamp down on it. I think I like this Bishop Donovan.

Bishop Donovan's friendly gaze lands on me. He asks, "And who is this lovely young lady?"

Placing his hand on my lower back, nudging me forward, Adam says, "This is my friend, Nat. Nat, this is Father Donovan."

Reaching out, Bishop Donovan clasps my hand in his and says, "It is a pleasure to meet you, my dear."

"Likewise," I respond.

Adam announces, "I wanted to show Nat my favorite spot in the church."

Linking his hands behind his back, Bishop Donovan sighs, "Ah, yes. The place where you attempted to avoid many a mass, no doubt." He sounds reproachful but his laughing eyes betray his seriousness.

Grinning, Adam says, "Father Donovan, I'm trying to make a good impression on Nat."

Matching my grin to Adam's, I reply, "Well, I think it's a little late for that."

Chuckling, Bishop Donovan says, "Adam, I think this lovely lady may already have your number."

"Maybe she does," Adam responds. "Well, Father, if you don't mind, I think I will go show Nat my hiding, er, my thinking spot."

With a wave of his hand, Bishop Donovan dismisses us and says, "Enjoy your day, you two. Feel free to take a look around."

Heading out the door, I find myself staring at Adam in wonder.

Showing me the town includes an ice cream shop, inner tubing and now a church.

Who is this guy?

So where exactly is Adam taking Nat? And a church on their first outing together?

Hmmm, what does Adam have planned?

K-I-S-S-I-N-G

**Previous entry with Nat and Adam can be found here.

Stepping out of Adam's truck, I take in my surroundings. I see a long one story brick building with a flagpole out front and a playground.

Hurrying to catch up with Adam, I observe, "We are at an elementary school."

Adam says, "Indeed we are."

Shoving my hands in my pocket, I remark, "Okay. But why are we at an elementary school?"

Nudging me with his shoulder, Adam responds, "You'll see."

We pass the playground and head towards the back of the school. As we round the corner, I see several kids with inner tubes sliding down a hill in the back. A really big hill.

Raising my eyebrows, I say, "Tubing?"

Giving me that mega watt smile, Adam declares, "This is the best spot in town to go tubing."

Stating the obvious, I quip, "That may be but we don't have an inner tube."

Broadening his grin, he states, "I believe I can procure one for us."

Adam heads over to a group of boys. I can see him talking to them and gesturing to me. They laugh and hand over one of their inner tubes.

He walks back to me, looking triumphant.

Curiosity getting the better of me, I ask, "What did you say to get them to give you an inner tube?"

Shrugging, Adam answers, "I told them we had a bet to see who could go down the hill the fastest."

Broadening my grin to match his, I swipe the inner tube from his grip. "Well, it's going to be shame to have to lose in front of all these kids."

Throwing his head back and laughing, Adam says, "You think so, snow bunny?"

I plop myself down on the inner tube, reading myself for take off.

"Watch out for the little ledge halfway down," Adam says quietly in my ear.

I startle as I didn't realize he bent down to speak to me. His warmth breath stirs my hair. He chuckles.

"Got it," I quip.

Pushing myself off, I go shooting down the hill. Man-Boy Wonder is right. This is a lot of fun. I let out a whoop as I sail off the little ledge Adam warned me about. I can hear the kids cheering at the top.

Spinning towards the bottom, I come to a stop, grab the inner tube and make my trek up the hill.

I can't stop grinning like an idiot. That was a crap load of fun.

Point to Adam.

Reaching the top, I hand Adam the inner tube. I state, "Your up, Man-Boy Wonder."

Winking at me, Adam says, "Watch this."

He lays on his stomach on the inner tube and pushes himself off. He shoots down the hill like a rocket.

Adam hoots and hollers all the way down. The kids are eating it up. Their chorus of shouts and yells matches Adams.

Once Adam hits the ledge, he goes flying in the air and comes down with a thud, falling off and rolling to the bottom of hill. He comes to a stop, laying on his back.

"Adam!" I yell.

I make my way down the hill as fast as I can go, stumbling and falling to get there as fast as I can. At one point, I fall on my rear and slide the rest of the way.

Making my way over to Adam, I squat down beside him. His eyes are closed. Swallowing, I tentatively reach my hand out to move a strand of hair out of his eyes. I watch his chest rise and fall.

"Adam," I whisper. "Adam, are you okay?"

Suddenly, his arms swing out, swiping my legs out from underneath me. I land on my butt. Unbalanced, I topple over and end up flat on my back with Adam hovering above me.

I narrow my eyes at him. "You were faking! I thought you were really hurt!" I bark.

Laughing Adam says, "Got ya."

Punching him in the shoulder, I respond, "You jerk."

Adam says, "It worked, didn't it?"

"What worked?" I grumble.

Giving me that lopsided grin of his, he answers, "Getting you right where I want you."

Oh.

It suddenly dawns on me that we are laying down. His body is very close to mine. So close that I can feel his body heat.

Or maybe I'm just imagining it.

This makes me all kinds of nervous. And turned on.

Wait. What?

I chew on my bottom lip as this thought runs through my head. Adam stares at my mouth. I watch his throat as he swallows.

He closes the distance between us. "Nat," he whispers. His warm breath tickles my cheek.

Then, from the top of the hill, I hear, "K-I-S-S-I-N-G! First comes loves then comes marriage..."

Dropping his head, Adam sighs. He pushes himself up. Standing, Adam offers me his hand.

Pulling me up, he grins and says, "Want to try again?" His eyes twinkle at me.

Somehow I don't think he's talking about inner tubing.

Fun, isn't it? And, dare I say, sexy. Rawr.

Writing about Nat and Adam is all kinds of fun.

I hope you are enjoying reading as much as I am writing!

Would You Like To Know All Of My Secrets

**Previous entry with Nat and Adam can be found here.

Driving away from the ice cream shop, I question, "So where't the next stop?"

Winking, Adam says, "Haven't you learned by now that I don't reveal my secrets."

Crossing my arms and rolling my eyes, I quip, "Your secrets? Like who killed JFK? Or what is dark matter?"

Adam declares, "Not those type of secrets. I'm talking about top secret stuff. Like what makes the best grilled cheese sandwich and when is the best time to go swimming."

Despite myself, I feel a smile tugging at the corner of my lips. I say, "Wow. That IS top secret stuff."

Adam says, "Yeah. It's classified stuff. If this information ever got into the wrong hands...well, it's difficult to say."

Pretending to think it over, I respond, "Well, I hate to break it to you but I think I already know your secrets."

Turning his head from the road to take a quick glance at me, Adam says, "Oh, really? You think you know my secrets."

Rising to the challenge, I state, "Everyone knows the perfect grilled cheese is made from American cheese, mozzarella cheese, avocado and bacon."

Chuckling, Adam concedes, "Point to you."

Continuing, I declare, "As for swimming, the best time to go swimming late evening during the hottest part of summer."

Pulling his truck into a parking lot, Adam puts the car into park. Turning his head toward me, Adam clarifies, "Well, you have part of the swimming secret correct but not all of it."

Tilting my head to the side, I say, "Then, please feel free to enlighten me."

Reaching his hand out he catches an unruly strand of hair and gently tucks it behind my ear. His hand pauses there at the base of my neck.

My pulse quickens at his touch. I force myself to swallow.

Adam whispers, "Would you like to know all of my secrets?"

This is a game, Nat. Just a game to him.

Except it doesn't feel like a game. It feels very real, especially with his hand on my neck.

Forcing myself to make things light, I say, "A guy like you is an open book. I think everyone knows your secrets."

His brow furrows. His look turns from playful to serious. He leans in and says, "I wouldn't be so sure about that."

Then as quickly as he leans in, he's gone. Back on his side of the truck.

Opening his door, he orders, "Come on out, snow bunny. Here's another surprise."

I shake my head as if to clear it.

What is it about this guy? Why does he unnerve me so?

I just need to remind myself that this is just a game to him. He's having fun.

What's wrong with having fun?

Everything.

Especially if it ends in heartache.

*Waves.* Hi guys! Sorry it's been so long.

We went to Great Wolf Lodge a few weeks ago and the entire family caught the Bubonic Plague. Just now coming out of it.

Hope you liked this new post with Nat and Adam. I am enjoying their interplay.

I plan to have two posts up each week. Maybe one fiction and one personal post?

Unless life gets in the way. Which we ALL know how that goes....
